Best place around for open water swimming. Very welcoming to people of all levels of experience, especially beginners

It's a nice spot to paddleboard. Let down by the focus being money rather than safety. Zealous policy more interested in policing 'launching'. Basically, you aren't allowed to step off your craft anywhere but the entrance. Completely ruined the enjoyment of the place

horseshoe lake is a lovely walk along the river bank. There are plenty of benches to sit on and have a cuppa and some nice views across the nature reserve, and the activity centre does a nice coffee and sausage in a roll well worth a vist parking is free which is always a bonus

What an excellent day we had on the lake and it was all completely unplanned.Myself and my three children hired a paddle boat catamaran thingy and spent and hour exploring the lake and bird island. We then had a go a paddle boarding which was such fun . . . I think the kids are hooked. It's a great place to go, particularly when the sun is shining. 🏄♀️Massive thanks to Sharon who is a credit to the activities centre. She went above and beyond the call of duty with my kids and was, likeable, attentive, knowledgeable and an all round good sport. We'll be back!

Great walk, dog heaven, lovely coffee shop, free parking, toilets, indoor seating great wildlife. Very busy weekends, Bank Holidays and school holidays, parking can be difficult, walk if you can, although if you come along from Firglen estate way no footpath and road very busy. Nice lot of wintering birds. Can get very muddy after rainfall. Swimming at centre only, need to goggle to find times and cost.

Lovely place to walk, not massive but enough for a stroll. A cafe by the lake which has seating inside, tho space is limited, seating outside also. Toilets outside too which are clean.

This is an amazing place. We hired a kayak and had a blast. Stunning lake, the place is easy to get to, spacious car park, you can hire an equipment or bring your own. Staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. Book your visit beforehand and of you go... you will enjoy 😉

There’re horses in the hills. And they are very tame and beautiful. You can spot some dears lying in a distance as well. The vibe is very peaceful. You can see the cows by walking on the pretty village path around the lake. The lake is beautiful and broad. We could press the bell from the window and call to buy some hot drinks and sit on the wood made seats and watching people boating. Very enjoyable place. Fresh and in the nature.

Fantastic hire venue for Standup Paddleboarding. Love the feel of the place, chilled atmosphere and everyone always smiling. Dogs very welcome and allowed to paddleboard with you which is the reason I'm happy to travel some distance to visit. They test for green blue algae to keep us all safe. Free lifejacket with your hire (you need to provide one for your dog - but any sensible dog owner would happily do so anyway). The cafe has tasy food and nice coffee in big mugs! Free parking made even bigger this year and looks like they've plans to further expand in future. All in all a great day out

Great place for a walk around the lake and beside the River Blackwater.Even better is booking a session on/in the water. As an open water swimmer/dipper, I can confirm this lake is well managed, clean and has well marked courses for laps. There is a sandy beach to enter the lake with a gentle gradient. You can book kayaking and paddle boarding courses and they are well organised from the ones I've watched while swimming. There's a cafe on site, so you sit and enjoy the views across the lake and watch the ducks, geese and swans.

I first visited Horseshoe Lake in August 2019 while training for the Windermere One Way; visiting this picturesque lake for another swim was a pleasure.Horseshoe Lake is located in a quiet and beautiful part of Berkshire, near the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst; it's worth checking out their website to find their exact address. There is parking at Horseshoe Lake; however, it can get busy, it's worth planning your visit before you go. I can't recall any dedicated disabled parking; I sometimes have to make do when I visit. The lake offers three distances a 200m, 400m, and 800m loop. If it's foggy, they only use the 200m loop for safety reasons. The lake is accessible for people with restricted physical abilities; I have to caveat that it's accessible for me to use. Generally, I take my legs off near the edge, get changed and shuffle into the water. That works for me anyway; someone with more restrictions might find it more challenging. The team at the lake are keen to help and assist if required. It might be worth contacting them before you swim there if you have any specific requirements. There is a small cafe, which sells hot drinks which is perfect after a nice dip.

Visited this place during the open day and had amazing time with fiends and family. There is onsite free parking, serene view of lake and walk around the lake. We booked couple of activities and had great fun. Staff was amazingly friendly and prompt to response. We also enjoyed the coffee ☕️ at the on-site cafe.

Small café next to the lakes, good for coffee and sausage or bacon baps or other lite bites. Casual dog-friendly atmosphere. Plenty of outdoor seating and 3 or 4 tables indoors.

Such an enthusiastic welcome just after 9am this morning. Service was quick and friendly. Great cup of tea -decent sized cup to accompany two sausages in a delicious bread roll. A lovely way to start a day followed by a walk around Horseshoe lake.

Only popped in for a coffee with my partner after a walk around the lakes. Lovely surroundings and friendly, pleasant service. The coffee was really nice too and at a very good price. Plenty of seating and also dog friendly. A very lovely café that we'll certainly be popping back to.

Lovely cafe close to the water with lakeside views. Seating inside with pleasent seating outside. The cafe is fairly priced and opens until 6pm. The staff are nice. They only do hot food until 2, after that it's just roll sandwiches. Lovely spot to come too and just chill out. Gets very busy on a sunny weekend.
