What does this mean for Kids Club?
Kids Club will still go ahead, but we will be taking additional safety precautions and increasing the number of land-based activities.
We will still offer some water-based activities, but children will be encouraged to:
• Stay on their craft while on the water
• Avoid jumping into or swimming in the lake
• Follow our instructors' guidance at all times
Our team will be keeping a particularly close eye on the children and adapting activities as necessary to ensure everyone can still have a fun and safe Kids Club session.
We completely understand that some parents may prefer their child not to take part while the water quality is being monitored. If you would rather not attend, you can reschedule your booking or receive a credit to use at a later date.
We know this is disappointing, especially when the result is only just over the threshold, but we would always rather take the cautious approach and put safety first.
We’ll keep everyone updated as soon as we have further results.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
We are continuing to closely monitor the situation and have put a number of precautionary measures in place, including:
Regular water quality monitoring
Showering facilities encouraged after water activities
Hand sanitiser provided for all children attending H2O Holiday Club and activities
Plenty of fun land-based activities, so H2O Holiday Club will continue as planned
Open water swimming has been cancelled as a precaution
Natural barley straw treatment is in place within the lake to help manage conditions
Blue-green algae is a naturally occurring phenomenon that can appear during warm weather, and conditions can change quickly. We will continue to update our guidance as new information becomes available.
We have not been forced to close by the authorities but have done this ourselves as a precautionary measure as we value our customers health, safety, well-being.
While the lake remains open, we ask all visitors to follow the guidance below to help keep themselves and others safe.
Please:
- Avoid swallowing lake water.
- Wash your hands after water activities and before eating.
- Shower as soon as possible after participating in water sports.
- Cover any cuts or grazes with a waterproof dressing before entering the water.
- Do not allow dogs or other animals to enter or drink from the lake.
- Seek medical advice if you feel unwell after water contact, particularly if you experience stomach upset, skin irritation, or flu-like symptoms.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support. We appreciate your patience while we continue to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone at Horseshoe Lake Activity Centre.
