Start Date: 1st April 2018 – 28th October 2018 (With the potential to become full time for the right candidate)

Location: Horseshoe Lake Activity Centre, Sandhurst, Berkshire, GU47 8JW

Salary: Competitive rate pro rata – Dependant on experience

Hours: 40 hours per week as standard, but there will be peak periods where this increases. Any overtime worked will be paid as time off in lieu.

Accommodation: on site accommodation can be provided

Job Description 

We are seeking an RYA Senior Dinghy Instructor to take on the role of Chief Instructor at our centre. They will be working with our small team of full time staff and around 10/15 part time and casual staff.

The successful candidate will be expected to work closely with the Centre Manager and ensure that the day to day running and upkeep on the centre is to a high standard.

Some of the responsibilities are, but not limited to:

  • Staffing rota
  • Boat maintenance
  • Monitoring health and safety
  • Bookings and phones
  • Staff monitoring and Training
  • Running the centre on a day to day basis
  • Programming for group sessions
  • Liaising with schools and groups

The centre offers more than just sailing so the successful candidate will require a basic knowledge of Kayaking, Canoeing, Raft building, Archery, Dragon boating, Open water swimming and Team building activities.

The centre accommodates a wide range of groups from courses to corporate days to school trips. Numbers range from 1 – 250 people. So experience in organising these sorts of numbers is essential.

We are willing to look at anyone who thinks they are suitable for the job whether that be a first time chief instructor or a very experienced chief instructor looking to pass on some amazing knowledge to a small centre. We are a close knit team who are more like a family so the right candidate must be willing to help out wherever needed, this is not purely an office based role.
